The schema for it can still be used but there will be no benefit in the search results from using it.<\/p>\n<p>The reason given for removing the How-To rich results is that this is a part of simplifying the search results pages.<\/p>\n<h2>How-To Rich Results<\/h2>\n<p>The How-To rich results relied on the HowTo Schema structured data in order to make a webpage eligible for appearing in a rich result.<\/p>\n<p>As usual for structured data, the structured data only makes a webpage eligible to show up as a rich result, it doesn\u2019t ensure that it will.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, the structured data will have no effect or benefit for publishers who continue to use the how-to markup.<\/p>\n<p>This structured data previously shown in all languages and countries where Google Search was available.<\/p>\n<h3>Screenshot of How-To Rich Result<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-496480 size-full b-lazy pcimg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/how-to-rich-result-650420896a482-sej.png\" alt=\"Google Completely Removes How-To Rich Results\" width=\"418\" height=\"644\"><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/how-to-rich-result-650420896a482-sej.png\" alt=\"Google Completely Removes How-To Rich Results\"><\/p>\n<p>Google previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.searchenginejournal.com\/google-downgrades-visibility-of-howto-and-faq-rich-results\/493522\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">removed the How-To rich results only from mobile search<\/a>, reducing it\u2019s visibility so that it only appeared on the desktop.<\/p>\n<p>There was no indication that Google intended to remove the how-to rich results from the desktop.<\/p>\n<p>That has now changed.<\/p>\n<p>Google has completely removed the rich results from the desktop versions of the search results pages.<\/p>\n<p>The How-To rich results are officially deprecated.<\/p>\n<p>Google <strong>announced<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cContinuing our efforts to simplify Google\u2019s search results, we\u2019re extending the How-to change to desktop as well.
