Google is officially rebranding the Webmaster Guidelines as \u201cSearch Essentials,\u201d which comes with a simplified refresh consisting of only three sections.<\/p>\n

In addition to making the former Google Webmaster Guidelines easier to understand, Google\u2019s motivation behind the refresh is to move away from the term \u201cwebmaster.\u201d<\/p>\n

Google has gradually removed \u201cwebmaster\u201d from its branding over the past few years. For example, \u201cGoogle Webmaster Central\u201d was rebranded as \u201cGoogle Search Central.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWebmaster\u201d is a dated term, Google says, and doesn\u2019t include all content creators who want to see their content rank in search results.<\/p>\n

Many former guidelines are moving to specific sections within the Google Search Central website.<\/p>\n

Google Search Essentials now consists of three categories of points covered in the former Webmaster Guidelines.<\/p>\n
